Portrait of composer on t.p., with oval frame around it, and decorative garland underneath and ribbon tied in a bow above it.
Earliest possible date from watermark, 1815, p.5, p.13, p. 19 etc. The latest possible date is 1822 which was the last date Preston was at 97 Strand.
Bound in 'Lucy Havens, volume of songs and music, circa 1798-1825' in the Caroline Simpson Library collection.
Lucy Havens has written her name on the top of the first score.
Lucy Havens (1804-1867) was born in Monimail, Fife in Scotland, she then moved to Whitehaven, Cumberland in the north of England. She immigrated to Sydney with her family in 1839. She married a former convict and successful business man Thomas Hyndes in 1850. She remarried Scottish Presbyterian minister William Purves.
