Sampieri was a castrato who moved to London from Italy around 1780 to perform at the King's theatre. He was still giving concerts in London in the late 1790s. Also a composer. Active 1780-1810? Bodleian Library has his active dates as 1780-1800.
Most of the scores in the Miss Margaret Hazlitt volume of music have watermarks in the paper dating from 1811-1817. It is probable that the scores were published between 1811 and 1822. Margaret Hazlitt also wrote her name and 1817 on a number of scores in this volume.
Provenance: Stewart Symonds sheet music collection.
