[Dr. Thomas Chambers (1829-1896) was a highly regarded physician and university lecturer, practising in Sydney from 1882. His specialty was gynaecology and he established a private hospital for women - the first of its kind in Australia. He died at his home, Lansdown, in Summer Hill, Sydney on 24th August 1896. - ref.
