Description:
This pen and ink drawing is one of 6 drawings by Herbert Moore originally lent to the Vaucluse Park Trust in the 1920s by Mrs Edith Kellerman and then sold to the Trust on her death in 1929.
The kitchen wing at Vaucluse House was constructed shortly after William Wentworth purchased the estate in 1827 and may have been designed by the architect George Cookney, who designed the stables for Wentworth ca.1829. The wing is separated from the main house as a precaution against fires and to keep the heat, noise, cooking smells and servants at a distance.
