Described as a swimming pool in Nora Cooper "Everglades, the lovely home at Leura, N.S.W. of Mr & Mrs H. Van de Velde" in Australian Home Beautiful April 1938, pp.29-34, 56-57. According to an article in The Home, December 1938 pp.42-43, the raised lawn around the old Eucalyptus tree was used for sunbaking.
