In mid-1919 the Nowra Public School was converted into a temporary hospital in response to the outbreak of pneumonic influenza in Nowra. It admitted its first patients on 30 June. The temporary hospital closed on 1 August. Nurse Helen Macgregor from Kintore, the Macgregor family home next to Meroogal, worked at the temporary hospital during this time. Nurse Helen Macgregor is one of the people in this photograph, along with two other nurses and V.A.D. Wilson.
