Description:
This photograph, which hangs in a stained-timber Oxford frame in the front hall at Rouse Hill House, shows members of the Sydney Hunt Club gathered in the side garden of Rouse Hill House in front of the tank stand, after "a day's sport" at Rouse Hill at the invitation of Mr and Mrs GeorgeTerry. The event was reported in the Sydney Morning Herald, the Evening News, the Australian Town and Country Journal and the Windsor and Richmond Gazette and a photographer was engaged to take pictures of club members and of the hounds. Mr and Mrs Edwin Rouse provided lunch and hospitality. The poet 'Banjo' Paterson (standing 6th from the right in the back row) was among those who followed the hounds, on a horse called Gossip. Mr Tom Mullins rode a horse called Oofty Goofty.
Rouse and Terry family members present in the photograph include: George Terry (back row centre, on Banjo Paterson's right); Bessie Rouse (seated centre second row, in profile); Nina Terry (seated on Bessie's right); Kathleen Rouse (seated on Bessie's left); Edwin Rouse (seated in front row, third from right); Charlie Terry (seated in front row, on Edwin's right).
