Description:
This carte-de-visite is one item within a small album containing photographs of members of the extended Rouse and Terry families. Isabel Terry, nee Benson, was born in Launceston, Tasmania, the eldest daughter of Colonial Surgeon Dr William Benson and his wife Frances Maria Louisa Lakeland. She married Edward Terry of Eastwood House, Sydney, at All Saints, Hobart, on 4 May 1865. This photograph was taken in Sydney four weeks later at Percy Lodge, the Potts Point home of her mother-in-law Eleanor Wingate, formerly Terry, nee Rouse.The photographer Thomas Wingate was Eleanor's husband.
