Description:
Kywanna, on the corner of Wakeford and Kingsland Roads, Strathfield, was build around 1905 for Duncan Sinclair (c1838-1922), a well-known pastoralist. When the house was sold following Sinclair's death, it was described as "solidly constructed of specially selected brick with stone facings", a Bangor slate roof and a 12 ft wide tiled verandah with massive pillars of three sides. There were three large receptions rooms, 5 bedrooms, 2 fully-tiled bathrooms, kitchen, maids' rooms, scullery etc. The grounds were laid out in lawns, drives, paths, tennis-court, flower garden, bushhouse etc.
