Description:
The garden party held on 18 February 1954 was one of many vice-regal events held for Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh held during the first Royal visit to Australia following the coronation of the Queen in June 1953. According to press reports more than 8000 guests crammed into the grounds of Government House for the event.
