Description:
This photograph is one of 12 contained in an album titled ''Arundel' / Mosman".

When the house, Arundel, in Moruben Road Mosman, was offered at auction in December 1927 it was advertised as "occupying a picked position, convenient to trams, shops and beach; with a stone foundation, slate roof; containing hall, lounge and dining rooms, 4 bedrooms, breakfast room, kitchen, laundry and bathroom, verandahs front and rear; electric light and all conveniences" (Sydney Morning Herald 19 November 1927 p.24).

At the time this album was compiled, around 1929, Arundel was the home of Lawrence Stanley Jackson (1884-1974) and his wife Hazel Winifred nee Powell (1887-1939) and their four children. At that time Jackson was Assistant Deputy Commissioner in the Federal Taxation Department.

The house was probably built 1908-1911 by Mosman building contractors Helier Harbutt and his brother Percy Hawea Harbutt, architect unknown.
