Description:
The photograph depicts the locality of a shooting death that took place in the NSW central coast town of Hardys Bay on 3 January 1948. A fisherman named William Joseph Realph was shot by a postal employee named Robert John Murray. Murray was charged with murder but plead guilty to manslaughter in the Sydney Central Criminal Court in March and was sentenced to seven years penal servitude. The case was widely reported in the local and metropolitan press.
Part of an archive of forensic photography created between 1912 and 1964. This image is one of a series of 10 negatives contained in envelope no. 3453, box no. 3431-3453.
