Description:
Dorothy Welding was the professional name of Gladys Jacqueline O'Brien, later Merchant 1894-1954) who established a photographic studio in Boomerang House, King Street, Sydney in late 1931. In choosing the name Dorothy Welding, Miss O'Brien was apparently inspired by the successful career of London portrait photographer Dorothy Wilding (1893-1976) whose first Royal family assignment was in 1927.
