Series:
Wingate album
Description:
This small photographic print is pasted in on page 67 of a leather-bound folio album containing 62 sketches and watercolours and 33 early photographs, many signed by or attributable to Thomas Wingate (1807-69), former British army officer and second husband of Eleanor Terry nee Rouse (1813-1898).
Harry Montague Terry (1857-1891) was the eldest child of Samuel Henry Terry (1833-1887) and his first wife Clementina Parker nee Want (1824-1863). Samuel himself was the eldest son of John and Eleanor Terry (later Wingate) and was a member of the Legislative Council of NSW. Harry's mother Clementina died in January 1863 when he was not yet six years old. The photograph was probably taken at Percy Lodge in Potts Point, the home of Harry's grandmother Eleanor Wingate.
