The committee investigated and reported on the allegations contained in a petition by concerned Citizens of Sydney about some denigrating remarks made by an Immigration agent/board in regard to Irish female immigrants. The committee find that the Immigration Agent who made the remarks did not intend to convey any imputation, and that the evidence brought before the committee establishes that there were no grounds for any such imputation, and that "the character of the Irish Female Immigrants in general is equal to that of any other class of female immigrant ever introduced into this Colony." Contains Appendices e.g. tables of evidence including lists of orphan female apprentices whose indentures were cancelled.
