Description:
Toxana, in the main street of Richmond, was built for William Bowman (1799-1874), a member of a prominent early Hawkesbury settler family. It was completed and occupied by Bowman and his family in 1841. In the 1880s Toxana became the property of the Rev James Cameron, a Bowman family connection. For a few years in the 1890s the house was used as a residence for students of the Hawkesbury Agricultural College. It was later let as flats.
The building was restored in 1978 by Windsor Council and the Department of Environment and Planning.
