This Pyrmont sandstone arch forms the backdrop to a garden theatre and was originally the recessed entrance to the London Chartered Bank of Australia on Sydney's George Street. The bank was demolished to make way for Henri Van De Velde's Feltex House. Evans' photograph records the arch, and its small semi-circular fountain pool, before the installation of a bronze relief in the centre of the wall behind the arch.
