Description:
W. Winn & Co. was founded in Newcastle in 1878, and styled themselves as the 'Drapery Palace' of Newcastle, the town's leading drapers and milliners. The first shop was Hunter Street. By the time this photograph was taken in 1911 the firm had become W. Winn & Co. Ltd., general importers, house furnishers, drapers, clothiers, milliners, outfitters, with new premises on the corner of Hunter and Brown Streets, Newcastle. The old shop can just be seen in the far left of the picture.
