Description:
W. Winn & Co. was founded in Newcastle in 1878, and styled themselves as the 'Drapery Palace' of Newcastle, the town's leading drapers and milliners. The first shop was Hunter Street. By the time this photograph was taken in 1912 the firm had become W. Winn & Co. Ltd., general importers, house furnishers, drapers, clothiers, milliners, ooutfitters, with new premises on the corner of Hunter and Brown Streets, Newcastle,expanded even further than the extent shown in a photograph from 1911.
