Part of an archive of forensic photography created between 1912 and 1964. This image is one of a series of 15 negatives contained in box no. 1006-1020, three of which negatives relate to an accident in which a woman drowned when a car in which she was a passenger was accidentally driven into the river off a punt causeway on a wet evening and conditions poor visibility.
In the view, looking towards the Rhodes side of the river, the timber yards of A.& E. Ellis are a prominent feature of the riverbank.
