Description:
Lawrence Byrne was Dora Alexander's fourth husband. Her first husband was Leslie Walford who she married in 1917. He died in December 1928 and Dora next became Mrs Eric Sheller. Eric Sheller died in 1935 and Dora next married Ben Arthur Knowles Davies in 1938. He died suddenly 2 months after the marriage. At her marriage to Lawrence Byrne in 1944 Dora was given away by her son from her first marriage, Leslie Walford Jnr who can be seen in the background of the photograph.
Leslie recorded the details on the back of the photograph, noting that it was 'a heavy doodle bug day!' A photograph showing the wedding party, including Leslie and the best man Major Guy Bartlett, was published in The Australian Women's Weekly in September 1944.
